catholic wedding to-do's
So neither A. nor I are big church goers. We have faith, but have never been into church every sunday. But that all has to change.
We have to find a parish in the city, and luckily for us, there is a catholic church right around the corner. Hello St. Anthony's.
The deal is that we go to church, get a marriage prep class under our belt, and then have to have our parish priest arrange it with the Duck Lake parish priest to get us married at St. Laurent, and then have both priests okay the fact that I want my uncle, Father Andre, to do the ceremony.
Sounds simple, right? No.
The marriage prep classes I totally agree with. Common sense, you know. Here is the schedule available in 2009: Schedule. I think an evening class (all seven of them) is going to better suited for us than Saturdays. I will most likely be working Saturdays, and who knows about A. I think we'll try to go for classes in between March, April and May. the summer will be pretty full of other things to do, so this will gie us time to focus on the work and sessions.
How was your marriage prep classes?
2 notes:
We aren't big church-goers either so had no idea who could marry us. We finally went for marriage prep sessions with a friend of boyf's family and ended up asking him to marry us! Only 3 sessions including a test, we loved it. It made us discuss some serious things we hadn't thought of before. Like our views on a Dad's role in raising children and instilling discipline. Very informative!
My cousin also had to do this, and she really enjoyed it. I find that most ppl who go get a lot out of it. I'm looking forward to it.
