Parents of the Groom
The Mother of the Groom is none other than Annie D'Jonaire. She has three boys and one girl. A. is the only one who lives out of province, and he's her baby, so they talk quite a lot. You have to love a man who loves to keep in touch with his mom. Annie grew up in Patuanak, and has stayed there her entire life. She speaks Dene, and some English. Enough to tease me with, enough to show me that she cares. She is always happy to see us, and sad to see us go. A. visits her whenever he's up north, and I always try to come by for Christmas Mass and summer visits. She spoils A. rotten with gifts, moose meat and bannock, but I really can't complain. I love moose meat.
The late Napoleon D'Jonaire was Father of the Groom, but he passed when A. was seventeen. From what I heard, having never met him, he was a strict man, quiet, and adored his family. A. loves him and often tells me stories about him. We are having a note on the church programs about Napoleon, and other family and friends close to us who have passed, and we will be doing something at the reception as well.
